DERISCO Incorporated is 100% U.S. Navy Veteran owned and operated. We proudly support our brothers in arms. | Windows Vista Let me preference this discussion with the fact we are Microsoft Partner and we have been working with Windows since Version 1 we have gone through all the upgrades. Since the release of Microsoft Windows Vista on the 30th of January 2007 we have tested all of our software and found that:
After following the upgrade path which has taken a day per machine and most software still doesn't work. 1 month later we are still waiting for drivers and software to regain prior upgrade functionality. I ma not talking about obscure devices like old serial scanners, but new Palm Treo devices. We have done the upgrade on our production machines and the upgrade experience has been the same on all machines. This has definitely been the worst upgrade experience I have dealt with in my 30 year Computer career. We have found that high megapixel photos slow the system down horribly and after the upgrade to Vista and office 2007, we have used the same files in XP and Office 2003 with no problems on the same machine. We still had slow responses even after upgrading memory from 1 gig to 2 gig of memory. Even though you have to enter a password to make system changes in Mac OS X. The Apple commercial is true with the annoying repeating security questions during the same operation and then some times it decides not to do what you wanted no matter how many times you tell it it is ok. If Microsoft's goal was to increase Macintosh sales they are doing a good job. I realize the need for a more secure operating system. I also realize that Microsoft Windows has been the target of all the Hackers and Virus writers because it is the most used. And it is hard to balance between security and usability but so far Microsoft has missed the mark. We defiantly do not suggest upgrading current PC's to Vista the only way we suggest getting Vista is with a new PC and do not expect to use older software and devices on it. |
