  1. Digital Video Recorder/Network Video Recorder - There are many options often confusing

    1. Stand Alone DVR often called VCR Replacement. Click Here

      1. Pros:

        1. Often the lowest cost alternative

      2. Cons

        1. Limited Storage options Generally 300 to 500 gig single hard disk

        2. Limited recording quality. Unfortunately often manufacturers marketing people play shell games with this specification like 30 frames per second (fps) 4 camera system but do the math it is actually 7.5 (fps) per camera I have seen this done with 8 camera systems as well 120 fps 8 camera system is the same 7.5 frames per second. I often equate this with with the Princes Diana video.

    2. PC Based Digital Video Recorder (DVR) Click Here

      1. Pros:

        1. Great Storage options up to 4 terabytes in system then you can add raid server

        2. Better Quality options 640X480 at 30 frames per second per camera. Unfortunately often manufacturers marketing people play shell games with this specification like 30 frames per second (fps) 4 camera system but do the math it is actually 7.5 (fps) per camera I have seen this done with 8 camera systems as well 120 fps 8 camera system is the same 7.5 frames per second. I often equate this with with the Princes Diana video.

        3. Can be made it hybrid system DVR/NVR.

      2. Cons

        1. Cost a bit more.
